👋 Hey! Nice to Meet You!

Hi, this is Jiuqi. I am a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia, working with Dr. Shangtong Zhang in Sequential Intelligence Lab (SIL). My research interests center around understanding and developing efficient and robust algorithms to solve complex sequential decision-making problems. Currently, I am focusing on the theory and applications of reinforcement learning. With the rapid advancement of large language models, I am also spending some time digging into agentic systems and how RL can help with improving such systems.

Before joining UVA, I earned my MSc. (thesis track) in Computing Science at the University of Alberta under the fantastic co-supervision of Dr. Martin Müller and Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer. I received my BSc. in Honours Computer Science at McGill University, where I was supervised by Dr. Hsiu-chin Lin for Science Undergraduate Research Award (SURA).
